Everyone is different...
Every situation is unique...
Sometimes the thing we can't seem to remove from our lives is meant to stay for a reason:
The phrase "goad in Paul's side" refers to a metaphor Paul uses to describe a persistent difficulty or source of pain in his life, which he endured as part of his ministry. Paul mentions this in 2 Corinthians 12:7, where he speaks of a "thorn in the flesh" given to him to keep him humble and dependent on God's grace. This "thorn" or "goad" was a continual challenge or affliction that prevented Paul from becoming conceited due to the extraordinary revelations he received from God. Paul describes this goad as something that kept him reliant on God's power rather than his own strength. Despite pleading with the Lord to remove it, God responded that His grace was sufficient and that His power was made perfect in weakness. Therefore, Paul embraced his weakness because it allowed Christ's power to rest upon him. This concept teaches us that God can use difficulties and persistent challenges in our lives to keep us humble, dependent on Him, and to display His strength through our weakness.
It also shows that God's grace is always sufficient to sustain us through trials. Relevant Bible verses:
• "And to keep me from exalting myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!" (2 Corinthians 12:7)
• "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
• "For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10)
